Marcy Richardson, aka OperaGaga, is "The Singing Aerialist." Described by Theater Mania as a performer who is "worth the price of admission alone" (Nutcracker Rouge-Company XIV), she is known around the world for her work in Acrobatic Pole, Lyra, Aerial Silks, and Burlesque.
She has appeared in many of New York City's premiere entertainment spots for variety shows and burlesque, including Théâtre XIV, Duane Park, The Slipper Room, House of Yes, DROM, Dixon Place, Sid Gold's Request Room, Zavo NYC, Capitale, Secret Loft NYC and Le Poisson Rouge, and has brought the art of marrying opera and aerial arts to opera and entertainment companies worldwide, including Company XIV, Virginia Opera, Spiegelworld, Shien Artists, Hot Box Girls, Cirque Central Entertainment, Aera Dance, Schtick-a-pole-in-it, Secret Circus, The Curiosity Cabinet, and Busch Gardens Williamsburg. With over 20 years of voice training and experience on the operatic stage & 8 years of pole and aerial training, she got her start in the air as a competitive pole dancer, and is the 2014 Pole Sport Organization National Level 4 Championship winner. She most recently took home the 2018 Dora Mavor Moore Award for Best Female Performance in an opera for her aerial and vocal portrayal of Amour in Gluck's Orphée with Against the Grain Theater, a co-production with Opera Columbus.
She has performed with Company XIV in their last three seasons of off-broadway productions, which include Nutcracker Rouge, Boylesque Bullfight, XIVariéte, Paris, Snow White, and Cinderella. Upcoming performances include reprising her role as the Matador in Company XIV's extension of Boylesque Bullfight and her fourth year as a cast member of Nutcracker Rouge. She can also be seen at Duane Park performing in their monthly opera show, The Operatic Tease, as well as additional shows several times a month as a featured aerialist.
She is available for both ambient and featured aerial performances, including singing and aerial combined or only aerial. Additionally, she excels in aerial champagne service (pouring upside down from the air for special events) and is also available for specialty acts incorporating burlesque feather fans, burlesque while singing opera or operatic pop covers, and go-go for nightlife entertainment.
